Colds, Coughs, Middle Ear Infections and a New Baby

The title of this post lists my excuses for not posting in so long. The cold bug made it's way through my family like a tornado through a trailer park. I think the eye of the storm landed in my head because I have a lovely middle ear infection. I feel like I am swimming in a pool all day long. But I can't complain. I have a beautiful new baby nephew! My brother and sister in law had their second little boy early this morning. I was there and got to see his first bath, blood pressure reading, diaper change...it was all very wonderful and such a thrill! . So after a good night's sleep tonightI hope to be able post more tomorrow!

FOPalooza...well, almost

Here they are! Photos of actual Finished Objects! First up a lovely wool hat...

Next, one sock in Twisted Fiber Arts Dutchess Yarn in Portal using Cider Moon's Campfire Sock pattern. I shortened the cuff a bit. It is acutally chilly here tonight so I wish I had the other sock done!

And my May Nephew's baby blanket. My sister in law is now in the phase of her pregnancy that cause my heart to skip a beat everytime I get a call from her or my brother. Only a few short weeks to go! I hope I get those ends woven in in time!

Lastly, one UFO. A tiger stripe sock for P-Pie, my oldest son. I likes it already and I've tried it on his leg at least 4 times already.

In more Knittin' Knews, I joined the Insubordiknit Art Yarn Club. How cool is that club going to be! And, I joined another swap. This one is a Hogwart's Sock Kit Swap - I am still trying to figure out how to put the button on my blog and how to link or hyper link or whatever. I have a lot to learn about blogging - as you can see by my photo layouts. I am in Gryffindor House and got my house 5 points for knowing the answer to the trivia question. This club is great because there is no actual knitting! But seriously, it will be fun to shop for another knitter. I am good at shopping.

Breaking News!

OK, hold on. This is a major development. I just learned which tarot card I am!

You are The Star

Hope, expectation, Bright promises.

The Star is one of the great cards of faith, dreams realised

The Star is a card that looks to the future. It does not predict any immediate or powerful change, but it does predict hope and healing. This card suggests clarity of vision, spiritual insight. And, most importantly, that unexpected help will be coming, with water to quench your thirst, with a guiding light to the future. They might say you're a dreamer, but you're not the only one.

What Tarot Card are You?

You may now return to your normal lives...

Hogwarts Sock Swap Questionnaire

No finished Baby Log Cabin blanket pictures to post but I do have my completed Hogwarts Sock Swap Questionnaire! It is very exciting, isn't it? I never knew my foot circumference until this evening.

Anyone intersted in joining this super fabuloso swap should visit the blog howgarts-sock-swap by following the link in my sidebar and join in the fun! I am working on adding the link directly - since this is my first attempt I'm having some trouble. Rebecca was kind enough to give me instructions but I don't think they apply to Mac. I will look into it more!

Quick like a bunny I am not. I am hoping to finish the Log Cabin Baby blanket tonight for my new nephew due in May but I am burnt out from a long day. Hopefully I will be able to post pics of the almost finished blanket tomorrow. Two more logs to go! Whhhooooo!

Knitting Right Along...

Spring has sprung and it feels more and more like summer here in good ol'SoCal. Lots of budding flowers, crazy squirrels (is it squirrel mating season?), and the pool looks more and more inviting. Things are running smooth and the air smells of blossoms with only a hint of jet fuel!

In knitting news, I joined my first KAL. It's a Harry Potter KAL - Charmed Knits KAL. We will be knitting house hats for Warm Woolies and the hats will be sent to children's groups. Should be fun - I love hats. I am a late bloomer to the whole Harry Potter thing - while everyone else was reading the Harry Potter series I was in the world of new borns and Margaret Atwood. Then, I went to the most amazing Halloween/Harry Potter party last October hosted by my husband's friends from work. Everything in the house was decorated in theme - even the book bindings had been changed to resemble books from the book. There was a potions room out back, flying car in a tree, quidditch court in the front yard, sorting ceremony (I was Gryffindor)...it was just fantastic. Their dog even sported two extra heads to look like Fluffy. I was awestruck. Then, I received a set of the first six books from my brother and sister in law for my birthday and the DVD collection from by brother in law and nephew in December. I started reading in February and I am now officially hooked. I hope to be up to speed for the release of the 7th book this summer.

Oh, and then I met this very nice person through ebay and I am thinking of joining a Hogwarts Sock Swap. I thought I was done with socks - I even destashed a bunch of yarn to Jacey at Insubordiknit earlier this year. Then for some reason I wanted to knit - or should I say conquer - socks so I started again. I finished my first pair in late February and gave them to my mom for good luck (I always give my mom the first of everything I make). Now I am on my third pair. And I have joined two sock clubs - Rockin Sock Club and Yarntini's Sock Club.

Now I see that Jacey at Insubordiknit started a Yarn Club. Oh the temptation!

Lastly, I was lucky enough to win some beautiful handspun yarn from Cider Moon! Their colorways are amazing. I am working on a Campfire Sock right now.
